IS ELON MUSK THE NEW DONALD TRUMP

As Elon Musk buys social-media giant Twitter for $44 Billion, he’s sending a message to the users of this platform; especially the liberals. The billionaire tech tycoon has openly declared his intentions as he jolts the tech world once again. He wants to bring back “free speech” to the platform. This is surely causing headaches to “The Left” as they feel targeted. Which reminds them of another billionaire; former President Donald Trump.

Typically Musk is a ‘not so right-wing guy’. Although his stance on free speech is somewhat opposing to the left. ‘To question everything’ –  is the motive of Musk’s ‘free speech absolutism’. Something he shares with a friend of his, popular podcast host Joe Rogan. Unlike Rogan, who has already experienced the “Cancel Culture”, Musk is still doing fine with his huge follower base.

Some of Musk’s recent tweets indicate his desire to set the “Blue Bird” free. Here’s what Musk thinks of free speech and censorships,

By ‘free speech’, I simply mean that which matches the law.

I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law.

If people want less free speech, they will ask government to pass that effect.

Therefore, going beyond the law is contrary to the will of people.”

Musk knows that not everybody is liking his approach to free speech. It appears that he wants to upset some people.

For Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral, which effectively means upsetting the far right and the far left equally.”

This is how he genuinely calls out groups that might be obstacles to ‘Free Twitter’.

Although he desires the openness of Twitter as an assurance of his absolutism of free speech.

Big tech corporations like Google and Twitter have previously taken the route of censoring individuals. Take for example the case of Donald Trump, former President of the USA. It is undeniable that Big Tech wants to remain its rule and when someone like Elon Musk buys the whole of Twitter and promises free speech for everyone, it certainly is going to cause some unease for them.

There are examples of news sources being owned by tech giant billionaires. Facebook, The Washington Post, etc. But the outcry against Musk is a sign that his ‘takeover’ of  Twitter is not accepted. For quite a long time, Big tech has been using woke liberalism as a tool to protect their interests. And it seems so is the case this time.

Trying to be neutral, Musk thinks ‘The middle 80%’ of the users of Twitter will accept his attempt to establish free speech while both far-right and far-left are going to be triggered equally. This has led to banning some billionaires before.

Will woke liberalism be able to take down another billionaire?

For now, it seems the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has a stronghold in this game.
